About Me

Anna Nightingale

Anna was born 31/5/74 in Chester Cheshire, England and grew up in Tarporley, Cheshire. She has been a full time Artist since completing Art A Levels in Art and Design with Art Foundation course at West Cheshire College, Chester and graduating with a BA HONS Degree in Fine Art Painting from Central Saint Martins in 1996. Anna is a mother to son James aged 9 and Director of Intimate Life drawing events and Nightingale Interiors, on Malta and Gozo. She has studios in Malta and Luxembourg

Bold and Dramatic are the words that come to mind when in front of paintings by Anna Nightingale. There is an assured freedom in the handling of paint and colour and although there is an illusion of landscape the paintings can be described as abstract. Over the years Anna has developed a style that is highly personal, consistent and yet constantly evolving to new expressions that are fresh and exhilarating.

The late, much loved Gabriel Caruana
Maltese Artist

Anna always painted about her life, relationships, people around her, fundamentally her current journey. By taking the light and colours of her beloved Malta she has created portals to brighten and inspire.

MIKE HEDGES
RECORD PRODUCER

In my eyes, her paintings have always been explosions of colour – sensitively constructed, but none-the-less full-on-colour.

CURATOR, MPM ARTS HUB

Ivy Restaurant, West Street. London

A 22 carat gold painting by Anna was purchased as part of The Ivy's new collection of modern art in their Private Room. Since The Ivy's reincarnation in the 1990, the restaurant has always maintained a very close relationship with contemporary artists. Indeed, much of the restaurant's artwork comprises site-specific commissions from the likes of Tom Phillips, Alan Jones and the late Eduardo Paolozzi. Other top artists include Maggi Hambling,Tracy Emin and Damien Hurst

Anna’s 22 carat gold with crushed opal painting entitled “9.55 a.m” was in 2010 auctioned as part of a fundraising event for Haiti at the Club at The Ivy. Her work created one of the biggest bidding wars of the evening and raised more funds for the Haiti than a Tracey Emins print.

In 2011, Anna donated a landscape painting to Caprice Holdings which was part of an auction held at The Club at The Ivy for Cancer Research.
